Recording upright bass with Lyman Medeiros

I recently produced and engineered a session with the wonderful bass player Lyman Medeiros at the Greene Room Studio in Burbank, CA to record about 200 samples for AEA Ribbon Mics. A wide range of dynamic and condenser microphones was used to capture sound examples for AEA’s listening room section on their website. Big thanks to Lyman, Marc Greene, Paul Pegas, Nathan Bowers, Andy Georges, and Sara Dooley for making this session a real treat.

Patrick K on Desperate Housewives

The song “American Dream” by Irish Singer-Songwriter Patrick K was recently played in the episode “Who Can Say What’s True” of ABC’s Desperate Housewives. The song was produced and recorded by Mikal Reid, mixed by myself at Firewater Studios, and mastered by Roger Lian at Masterdisk NYC. Congrats Patrick!

Mixing aVid* at the Greene Room Studio

The first four songs of the upcoming album by German band aVid* have been mixed by myself at Marc Greene’s (The Calling, Lifehouse, Patti Austin) personal studio called the Greene Room. The excellent acoustics and eclectic collection of outboard gear was a perfect match for my approach to the music of aVid*.

I had the great pleasure to record a track with the up and coming LA rap artist Yancy Deron at Kronos Studios in Burbank, CA this week. Yancy will be featured on one of the tracks of the new album by the German band aVid*, expected to be released in 2012.
