I’ve recently been involved in quite a few location recording session in Los Angeles. Starting mid-November I assisted Paul Pegas in recording the Ron Jones “Influence” Big Band at the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles. Also, me and Paul recorded two sessions with the UCLA Bruins Marching Band at the UCLA campus, supervised by Wes Dooley, founder of Audio Engineering Associates. Paul and I furthermore recorded the annual Fall Music Concert at the Westridge Upper School. Finally, I assisted Ron Streicher and Gaylord in a concert recording of the LA Clarinet Choir at the “La Crescenta Presbyterian Church”. 2nd and 3rd place in AES recording competition

Oktober 7th, 2008

This year’s recording competition at the 125th AES Convention in San Francisco turned out to be a big success for me. My recordings were awarded with the second prize in the “non-classical surround” category and third prize in the “stereo jazz/blues” category. It’s a great honor to be officially awarded by professionals such as Bob Ludwig, Steve Bellamy or Graemme Brown and I thank the AES for giving me this fantastic opportunity. Besides the official award certificate, I’ve recieved a Digidesign M-Box 2 mini and an AKG Perception 420 microphone.

The final results will be officially announced on Sunday. I feel honored that the Audio Engineering Society and AEA Microphones have given me this opportunity.

internship in Los Angeles

September 22nd, 2008

I will start a five-month internship at AEA Microphones in Pasadena, California this October. I will get professional insight in developing, engineering and testing large ribbon microphones. Furthermore I am going to get in touch with the LA studio scene and learn as much as possible in the various fields of audio engineering. The month of October is going to start really busy with the 125th AES Convention in San Francisco. Besides assisting AEA Microphones CEO Wes Dooley, I will also assist former AES President Ron Streicher while recording Graham Blythe’s organ recital at St. Mary’s Cathedral on October 4th. Big thanks to everyone who helped me organizing this trip during the last months!

new internship offer!

August 15th, 2008

I’m very happy to announce that I’ve been offered to do an internship at AEA Microphones in Pasadena, CA, USA. Starting this October I will do my very best to learn as much as possible from Wes Dooley and his experience in big ribbon microphones and audio engineering in general. I am very grateful that he has offered me this fantastic opportunity and I also have to thank the wonderful people from the Audio Engineering Society (Bob Moses and Ron Streicher) for their help finding a new host company. This internship is only possible because of a sponsorship by the German government that was granted to me by the InWEnt company.

internship cancelled

Juli 25th, 2008

Sadly, I had to cancel my internship at Skyline Studios in NYC. Since I am taking part in an official scholarship programm (by InWEnt and it’s US partner CDS) I have to go through a quite complex visa application process. The U.S. State Department has introduced very strict regulations and standards for those companies that agree to host foreign interns. Unfortunately, Skyline doesn’t meet those quite ridiculous requirements and there was noway to solve the problem. Anyway, now there’s only little more than two months left to get things organized and I’m desperatly searching for a recording/mixing studio in the NY area that could use an extremely motivated, highly qualified and experienced intern for a 5-6 month period this fall. Please contact me if you would be interested!
